Live a Little

Well nothing to exciting has been happening with us! At the beginning of March I was finally finished with Shepherd Cheer. I choreographed there State routines. I think I’ll always have a love for cheer no matter how crazy it sometimes can be.

Quick side story.. a couple weeks ago I was listening to the radio and the discussion topic was "Is cheerleading a sport?" so of course my ears perk up... So there was a guy and a girl that were radio hosts, I don't know their names but let’s say the girl radio host's name was Sue just so people get the story. These two radio hosts were kinda bashing on cheerleaders. You could tell that Sue didn't think cheer was a sport. Well then a lady called in. She went off basically saying that cheerleading is a sport and challenged anyone to come do one of their practices and see how they can handle it. She basically told her opinion and then Sue came in and said "Well the cheerleaders that cheered for me in my sports didn't do a thing." Then the lady says "Well I don't know what small town you came from" Then Sue butts in and says "what did you say?" then the lady says "for all I know you could be from a small town" Then Sue said actually I was in the Olympics with 6 gold medals." Then the lady says "Oh and you were so good that that’s why you’re on the radio now huh" Then the radio hosts basically just wouldn't let the lady speak anymore and put her off the air... Anyways I thought the whole conversation was hilarious to listen to. I didn't do the story justice. I just liked how the lady that called in was totally giving it to Sue.. which I kinda had to agree with the lady that called in.

My opinion is that cheer can be a sport SOMETIMES. There are some teams out there that can't do a thing and just cheer on the sidelines which is totally okay with me but I don't think that’s a sport. But there are teams out there that work the butts off, that compete in different competitions, and at times can probably kick even a football player’s booty! Anyways that’s my random gibber jabber!
Here's a picture with the girls... some are missing though!

My supporters! David wasn't able to make it this here. Last year he would text me the dirty details of how the other teams against them did! Some could say that's pretty weird of him but I loved it so I basically made these to come! Which I dearly appreciated!

...

Recently we had a friend getting married up in Snowflake. Since David's great grandma has a ranch in Shumway we decided we would take a much needed little trip and stay up there for the weekend.

We drove up through Globe. The reason we came up through Globe was because David wanted to visit the Burger House really bad so we stopped at got green chili burros.. supposedly they are to die for!

The next day we had fun just roaming around! This place is an awesome view on his great gma's land!

David's favorite toy! We basically drove all day which got us good sunburns!

We visited the temple in Snowflake before the reception!

Last year we did a session here and we want to take pictures at all the temple's we go to and we never got our picture in front of this one so I made sure to get it!!
...
We both have been super busy with school. David is taking a big schedule so he can graduate by May next year! I've been trying to pass these dang hard classes so I can start my program in the Fall. Besides being super busy with school, we both have our own little things on the side.

I've been quilting. If you remember I learned how at my family reunion back in December.

This is the first one I did! It recently has been quilted (I call it the swirly lines) now I'm just finishing up on the binding!

This quilt is super cool because at the reunion we call picked out a fabric and got enough that each person that brought fabric got a 5 x 5 piece of everyone else's! We all make a quilt and see how different they are gonna turn out! I recently finished making the top part of this quilt. I'll post pics when they are both finished!

When David isn't at his full-time job or in one of this 5 classes at school, he's putting all of this time and energy into his business he is starting!

Right now the business consists of residential window cleaning. If you're interested give him a call and he'll give you a quote. (480) 788-TIER

Other than all that... SUMMER break is COMING SOON!!!

Happy Late V-Day!!

Yes I know that February has already past but I want to post not only to show off how cute my husband is but just because sadly this is the closest thing I have to a journal!

This year we said absolutely no gifts for Valentine's Day. BUT my husband has to out do himself even though he followed the rules!

During my lunch break I usually go to my parent since it two minutes from work. I was on the phone with David when I left work and he's telling me made up excuses why he has lunch at this time but I had no idea he was on my side of town. Well I come to the corner where the Poston Seminary building is and find this!

"Jamie if you Love David Go Straight"

Then I come to this one.. "Happy Valentine's Day Jamie ->"

So I keep following these embarrassing signs..."If Your hoot Go <-"

"Almost There"

When I turn the corner I find this guy in the field!

haha isn't he just cute!?

He had lunch waiting for me which I enjoyed very much!

David is the greatest! He definitely puts up with all my drama, emotional break downs, craziness and the list goes on and on! I seriously don't know how he does it.. (I can barely stand myself)

BUT thats why I LOVE HIM!!!(and many other reasons too!)

We Are Family...

...was this year's theme for the Fred and Norma Arnett Family Reunion!! All that attended was just my dad's brothers and sisters which are known as "The Originals" and their families! When it comes to this group ... you gotta plan BIG!!
Thursday, December 30, 2010
The boys got up real early(the day that was freezing!) and played a game of golf.
(David is now addicted to golf - in fact that is what he's doing at this moment while i'm blogging)

The boys won the award for the most "snowmans". David won the award for being with the team that needs lessons(somethin like that). My dad won the award for "best dress", since he was decked out in Mountain View attire.
While the boys were out golfing, the girls got together and learned how to make quilts!! (I'm now addicted too but I told myself I couldn't work on it until I was done doing choreographing Shepherds Routine)

Jackie, David and Myself were in charge of "Minute To Win It" games at every meal. This was the older group trying to keep 3 balloons up for a minute!

We had Spud Races!

Our spud car! We definitely didn't win with our double decker and 3 wheeler!

"Music In My Bag"

We all were in different groups and had to make up a dance. Here's a little video I made with all of them. Its not the best quality because it just from a camera!

Friday, December 31, 2010

Friday morning after breakfast we were put into teams and had "Family Olympics"! We had to come up with a team name and a team cheer. The Arnett's are pretty competitive so you could just imagine how it all went down! I think there were about 8 different groups and each event was by one of "The Originals" and their Spouse.

The team I was on.. The Tigers!

The team David was on... The Bananas!

Can't have a family party without Uncle Steve's Train!

Me and Jackie were in charge of a Fashion Show with our grannie's clothes! We did this after dinner and had some of the cousins and 2nd cousin's join! It was definitely a hit!
Some of the outfits!
We had few outfits of our Grandpa Fred's. This picture my dad is walking down the catwalk with Grandpa's rob on!

Oh but just look whats underneath! My Granny made these shorts for my grandpa and somehow my dad has ended up with them!

Me and Jackie had goofy outfits on so we went down the catwalk together! Jackie is wearing my Granny's clown outfit she'd wear on Halloween. I'm wearing her MC Hammer pants that she wore doing a dance with her sisters some time ago!

"Musical Chairs"

or should I say Dancing Chairs! We had to dance while playing musical chairs! It was so much fun and Fred was on the microphone and if he saw someone dancing he'd give them "a pass"! That means if they didn't find a chair in the round that they got "a pass" then they got to stay in the game!

Here is a video of the little kids playing! Wait 10 seconds in and see how crazy some can get!
(I'm just going to brag for a little bit... I won the Adult group!.. but I had to put up a dang good dancing fight!)

We all had a blast! I'm grateful for my family and the joy they bring to me!
(not the best quality but it shows how many of us..roughly 200)

Until 2013!!

Christmas @ the Ranch

This year we had Christmas with the Nielson side. We went up to the Ranch in Shumway and enjoyed a nice Christmas up north!
Of course, Pam has to out do herself! I wish I would have saved the paper she sent out to us like 4 months in advance to invite us up to the Ranch. It was a cute little poem with a theme as "The Grinch"!
One day we all made "Who-Ville" out of gingerbread houses. David and I made the "City Hall" with the awesome clock tower! Amber made "The Grinch" on the sleigh. Kim made the "Out House". Matt, T, and Jon made little houses for the village. Kristin and Jonathan made the "Church".

I had to show the up close pic of Amber's grinch because she did an awesome job!!

One night we all got matching PJ's and Pam read us the story of "The Grinch" and then "Santa" came to visit Tyler and then we watched the old version of "The Grinch".

Everyone in their PJ's! Including The Grinch and Max!

Me and my cute husband in our matching PJ's!

Greatest sister-in-laws. I wished a blended in a little better, I stick out like a sore thumb!

Yes, I know you all are probably thinking what the heck is she thinking putting this up! Well this was our FIRST picture we took with our new camera we got for Christmas! Hurray!
The rest of the trip was way fun! We mostly ate and ate and ate! David and Matt went snowboarding the last day we were there at Sunrise. David had a bad fall(I better add that it was because of some stupid girl that cut him off) and I had to drive all the way home because he had a bad concussion, but he ended up being okay!

I'm grateful for this guy! He is absolutely amazing and I'm grateful that we fell in love so...
... I could join this fun, crazy, awesome, most amazing family I could ever be a part of!
I'm too lucky!
I LOVE THEM!!

Happy New Year!!

Our first sip of soda pop in one FULL YEAR!!! Our goal for 2010 was to drink no pop!! And we did it!!
2010 was a great year! It couldn't have ended better by being up at the ranch for Christmas with the Nielson's and enjoying a fabulous Fred and Norma Arnett Family Reunion!! Be ready for a long post sometime soon with some highlights of both!

Grand FREAKING Canyon

Every year a guy in my parents ward, Bro. Hinton, hikes the Grand Canyon RIM-to-RIM (North Rim to South Rim). I've always wanted to do it since forever ago but always was busy with either cheer or work or whatever. Well Bro. Hinton talked Jackie into doing it which she then talked me and David into doing it. We started doing the practice town walks then actual hikes every Saturday in September. Well Braden and Porter started getting jealous and since Tyler had done it twice before they have always wanted to do it too, so they started practicing with us the last few weeks!
There ended up being 15 of us hiking it altogether. Friday, October 16th we left around 8:30 PM because we had to wait for David and Jackie to get off work. The rest of them left earlier that day. It was a 7 hour drive (YES, it SUCKED!!) but we finally arrived then an hour later we started hiking.
It was an awesome experience and loved it but definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done physically, emotionally, and mentally. The last 4 miles are all switch backs and seriously it was SOO HARD! I'll admit I cried most of the way up those last 4 miles! BUT I had my kind, sweet husband with me the whole time that pushed me to keep going!
Quick cute story... As we were hiking across the bottom of the Grand Canyon we were talking about how much faster he is than I am but I jokingly said "IF you really love me you'd stay with me the whole time and not leave me when we go up hill"! Well it came and I was having a really rough time up the last part and I told him "Just go up with Braden and Porter, you can leave me" And he said "You said if I loved you I'd stay with you so I'm staying with you!" AWWW he's such a sweetheart! So we finally made it! THANKFULLY!!!!
SO here are some PICS!!!
Our family + Katherine before we started hiking at 5:30 AM!! (ya i look like a freak!)

The whole group! OOHHH look at good ol' Bob on the right! haha (he was a character!)

Ever since I saw the first Twilight movie I've always wanted to climb up a huge tree and look out to a beautiful view with my lover like Edward and Bella did. Well seriously this was my view! You can't tell in the picture but as we were hiking down, this view was THE VIEW I've always wanted with my lover!

We took pictures at every bridge! My studly husband at this bridge!

This was our group we stayed with till we got to Phantom Ranch (which is basically a little more than half way from the North Rim at the bottom).

Braden and Porter at this swampy looking scenery bridge!

The four of us continued to go ahead and this is us crossing THE bridge which is the bridge going over the Colorado River!

See those mountains in the distance? Yup all the freaking way up there is where we went! UGH!!!

After those first switch backs I started my first tears! (which wasn't even the worst of it)

This sign says "DO NOT attempt to hike from the canyon rim to the river and back in one day. Each year hikers suffer serious illness or death from exhaustion." ... YA - I know why now!
Us at the top!
Braden made it 2nd at 9 1/2 hours!
Porter made it around 10 hours!
David and I made it in 11 hours!

Yes, we are crying! I was just so happy we both made it!
Jackie and Katherine made it 12 hours!

The whole gang!
Everyone was done by 12 1/2 hours which is the fastest the WHOLE group has done in the many years Bro. Hinton has done it! (I think!)
Awesome experience!.. I think if I were to do it again I'd do more training
BUT that's IF I do it again!!
;)
